Resume Cover Letters
As a recruiter, I know resume cover letters can impact how your resume is received. These are three rules that a job seeker should always follow:
1. Always send a cover letter with your resume. It should highlight your strengths for that particular job. Identifying your strengths also helps the recruiter sell you to the client. If there is no recruiter involved your resume should declair to the reader three or four strong points why YOU are the best fit for the job. Never use a generic resume cover letter.
2. Check and double check your spelling. Make sure your letter contains no grammatical errors. Even if the job has a small amount of administrative tasks involved, spelling errors can communicate a lack of professionalism or lack of quality in your work. This cover letter is your calling card. Make it a great one.
3. The letter should have formal tones. For example, the salutation should be formal "Dear Mr./Ms. XXXX" and close with "Sincerely," then your name.
