Working Around Kids This Summer
Posted: 17 Jun 06 1:57 PM
If you read may blog you'll know that I am attempting to balance working with the kids at home this summer without enrolling them in a day camp every week of the summer. I'm sure many of you have ideas about working around kids.  Have you been working at home?  You may even own a business.  Please share your experiences, successes and particular insights with us here.  -Michelle

It's not impossible to work at home with a child around.  But sometimes you have to take breaks to be a mommy.  My son is 5 and he is an only child, so during the day it is just the two of us.  Since my business is oriented toward other moms and households, a little child chatter in the background is fine, but I take a break every hour or so, to allow some playtime when he is at home. During regular school days, I work from the time he gets off the school bus to the time that he comes home and that is it.  If you have smaller children, cramming in work during naptimes also works.  One of the reasons work at home business are great is that you can set times that work best for you family, realizing of course, that eventually you have to work at it in order to get something out of it.
