Elance may be your answer. It is a marketplace website where service providers can meet and bid on a wide variety of jobs provided by business owers, corporations, etc. In order to bid on any job you must be a member. Membership prices are as followed:
$59 - $199 for Limited Annual Membership (the upper price is a membership to bid on Website Development and Software/Technology projects)
$139 - $339 for Professional Annual Membership
$349 - $1139 for Select Annual Membership
There is the option to pay on a quarterly or month basis for those that would like to gradually ease into the service. With each membership you are allow a certain number of options to bid. They range from 8 - 120 bids/mth depending on the membership.
Smart Moms has done research to determine if Elance is a viable way to make money. Our research shows that it can be. However, there are some keys to success with Elance.
1. Like any other business start-up, give yourself a year to become an established Elance Provider.
2. When responding to a bid, be specific and do the research before responding. You will be competing with other service providers and pricing does not always win. Attention to detail is key!
3. Prospective clients may request that you prove your skills with a related test. Be prompt with the test. You can expect these requests initially and until you have completed multiple projects and have established a reputation on Elance.
4. Although this is a great avenue for freelancers, we have learned that Elance is slow to respond to customer service issues. Despite this concern, Elance still receives the highest number of listings. We encourage you to thoroughly investigate all opportunities before investing.
